La villa de Caldes fue, en \u00e9poca romana, una estaci\u00f3n termal fundada sobre el manantial de agua caliente que brota. La funci\u00f3n primordial de este conjunto era curar a los innumerables enfermos que llegaban al lugar desde diferentes puntos de la Hispania romana. El edificio que se contempla en la Pla\u00e7a de la Font del Lle\u00f3, es solamente una peque\u00f1a parte del gran conjunto termal que hab\u00eda en tiempo de los romanos. Este complejo se extend\u00eda, como m\u00ednimo, por el Hospital Antiguo, gran parte de los balnearios Rius y Broquetas y la actual Pla\u00e7a de la Font del Lle\u00f3. Hoy en d\u00eda, ya se han localizado 15 \u00e1mbitos de este conjunto termal romano.<\/p>\n\n
