Con una poblaci\u00f3n rural y dispersa, el n\u00facleo central de la poblaci\u00f3n empez\u00f3 a formarse hacia el siglo XVI, cerca de la iglesia.<\/p>\n\n<p>Su car\u00e1cter rural no se transform\u00f3 hasta principios del siglo XX, cuando se convirti\u00f3 en villa de veraneo y, m\u00e1s tarde, centro de segundas residencias. El car\u00e1cter residencial del municipio se reforz\u00f3 con los proyectos urban\u00edsticos y arquitect\u00f3nicos de <strong>M. J. Raspall<\/strong>, arquitecto municipal de L&#8217;Ametlla desde 1906, acabada la carrera, hasta el a\u00f1o 1912.
